One Union Square Plaza
Along with major upgrades to the elevator and reception lobbies, SGA renovated the 10,000 square foot entry plaza for a prominent downtown Seattle high rise. As part of the renovation, a massive honed Granite water feature and wall were installed to anchor the plaza and cascading stairs that connect One Union Square to the surrounding cityscape. SGA completed the demolition of the existing plaza paver system and finishes, removal of existing artwork installations and the underlying failed roofing membrane to make way for new finishes. A new roofing membrane is capped off with a new pedestal-set paver system. New contemporary furnishings and landscape installations provide a welcome respite from the fast-paced downtown atmosphere.
The new water feature includes fiber optic lighting, a reflecting pool and cascading water fall. A significant amount of time and effort went into the engineering and installation of the complex mechanical systems that lie beneath the surface. The One Union Square plaza is one of the few remaining large urban spaces in downtown Seattle.
